On-site is practical, in your own building, and part of the same F-89 certificate. Go stage by stage: what the inspector asks, a checklist, practice questions and, in stages I and II, a sheet you fill in with YOUR building's data.

Texts prepared by AI from the official FDNY booklet. Not a person and not the FDNY.

What the On-site exam covers

The current booklet (2022) gives the On-site exam in 11 sections, in this order: 1-3 building knowledge (general, fire safety, Comprehensive Plan); 4 FLS staff training; 5 active shooter training for occupants; 6 a 30-minute break; 7 fire scenario; 8 building scenario; 9 non-fire scenario; 10 Fire Command Center demonstration; 11 elevator demonstration. (FDNY booklet 2022, Part V, p. 421)

To pass you need at least 70%, every MANDATORY item (building specific, with a practical demonstration) and no more than one IMPORTANT item missed (generic questions or tasks you must explain). (FDNY Notice of Exam, On-Site exam grading, p. 27)

No study material or personal notes are allowed at any time. This app is for studying BEFORE the exam. (FDNY booklet 2022, Ch. 21, §21.1, p. 431)

Here the 11 sections are grouped into 4 study stages. The older on-site guide (2017) used 4 parts and said Phase II was not demonstrated; the 2022 booklet makes Phase II mandatory. This app follows the 2022 booklet.
